At Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, caring for Veterans means recognizing the person behind the uniform, honoring their experiences and making sure their service and sacrifices are never forgotten.
Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is the only hospice in El Paso County with a dedicated Veteran Liaison who works one on one with Veteran patients. This specialized role allows us to provide additional support that recognizes the unique experiences, needs and contributions of those who have served our country.
Our Veteran Liaison helps patients navigate and acquire military benefits they have earned, provides Veteran-to-Veteran companionship and support, and offers meaningful opportunities to recognize their service.

A Meaningful Tribute to Service
A Veteran pinning ceremony is a deeply personal way to recognize and honor a Veteran's military service.
The ceremony provides an opportunity for family members, friends and members of the hospice team to gather around the Veteran and express their gratitude. It is a time to pause and reflect on the Veteran's years of service, the sacrifices they made and the experiences that have helped shape their life.
For many Veterans and their families, the ceremony becomes a treasured memory.
The simple act of presenting a pin and formally recognizing a Veteran's service can carry tremendous meaning. It says, We see you. We appreciate what you gave. Your service has not been forgotten.
A Gift From a Grateful Community
Each Veteran honored through a pinning ceremony also receives a special red, white and blue blanket generously donated by members of our community.
The blankets are more than a beautiful gift. They are a tangible expression of gratitude — a warm reminder that a grateful community is standing alongside the Veteran and their family.
We are incredibly thankful to the generous community members who donate these blankets and help make these moments of recognition even more meaningful.
