A Morning of Joy at the Denver Zoo

Some of the most meaningful moments happen when families have the opportunity to simply be together.

This summer, families served through The Denver Hospice’s Footprints Pediatric Services program enjoyed another unforgettable morning at the Denver Zoo. The special event gave children and their loved ones the chance to step away from medical appointments and daily challenges to experience a day filled with fun, exploration, and connection.

Families received complimentary admission and meal vouchers before setting off to discover everything the zoo has to offer. One of the day's biggest highlights was getting up close with some of the zoo's most popular animals, including feeding gentle giraffes and petting stingrays with the guidance of the zoo's incredible staff.

While the animal encounters were certainly memorable, the true highlight was watching families laugh together, share new experiences, and create lasting memories. These moments of joy can have a profound impact, offering children and caregivers the chance to focus on one another and enjoy time together in a welcoming, supportive environment.

The Denver Hospice’s Footprints Pediatric Services program is dedicated to helping children with serious illnesses and their families find comfort, support, and opportunities to create meaningful experiences. Special events like this reflect our commitment to caring for the whole family—not only through clinical support, but also by making room for joy, connection, and celebration.

We are incredibly grateful to the Denver Zoo for once again opening its doors to our families and helping make this special day possible. Their generosity and partnership continue to bring smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories to the children and families we are honored to serve.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's zoo adventure such a wonderful success. We look forward to creating many more special moments together.
