Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Inpatient Care Center Marks One Year

Major milestone reached by newest PPHPC addition

Just one year ago, in June 2025, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care welcomed Marcia V., the very first patient to our new Inpatient Care Center. Since that first day, over 800 patients have followed, choosing this peaceful and expertly staffed facility for care and comfort.

The feedback from patients and families has been overwhelming – praising the exceptional environment and, most especially, the quality of care afforded to every patient who passes through the doors of the ICC.

There have been hard times. The interfaith chapel served as a place of solace and comfort for both family and staff after the death of the ICC’s first pediatric patient.

But there have been so many moments of joy and togetherness – like when nearly 20 members of the Garcia family gathered in the communal kitchen to prepare a meal while their matriarch rested in her room nearby. The ICC garden has been the site for weddings (see photo), veteran salutes, and countless moments of quiet contemplation. Staff have wheeled a patient in her bed to the great room to hear her daughter play a familiar beloved song on the grand piano.

This Inpatient Care Center -- the region's only freestanding hospice inpatient center -- was made possible by generous donors and reflects Pikes Peak Hospice's commitment to continue growing, adapting and forging enterprise solutions to provide the very best in hospice care to the people of our community.
