Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care recognized across local media for community impact and veteran support

Over Memorial Day weekend, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was honored to be featured in several local media stories highlighting the meaningful work happening throughout our organization and community partnerships.

With so many recent mentions, we wanted to combine them into one post — a reflection of how deeply connected Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is within the Colorado Springs community and the many individuals, families, veterans, volunteers, and partners we are privileged to serve.

One recent story from FOX21 News highlighted the Flags for Fallen Veterans event at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. More than 200 volunteers gathered to place approximately 4,500 flags in honor of fallen service members ahead of Memorial Day. The event, coordinated locally in partnership with Flags for Fallen Vets, reflected the community’s shared commitment to remembering and honoring veterans and their sacrifices. https://www.fox21news.com/news/local/pikes-peak-hospice-honors-veteran-graves-with-flags-for-memorial-day/

Additional recent coverage from The Gazette — available behind a subscriber paywall — highlighted both the annual Illuminations luncheon and the Memorial Day flag placement event.

The Illuminations luncheon recognized Dr. David and Paulette Greenberg as recipients of the 2026 Quality of Life Award and raised more than $110,000 for the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation to help ensure care remains available regardless of a patient’s insurance status or financial means. The event also highlighted the growing need for hospice care throughout El Paso County and the compassionate support provided to patients and families every day. https://gazette.com/2026/05/24/around-town-greenbergs-are-quality-of-life-honorees-at-hospice-palliative-care-luncheon/

The Gazette’s Memorial Day coverage also shared moving stories from volunteers, veterans, and families who participated in placing flags at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, emphasizing the importance of remembrance, gratitude, and community involvement. https://gazette.com/2026/05/24/they-gave-everything-flag-placing-honors-departed-service-members-ahead-of-memorial-day/

We are deeply grateful to the community members, volunteers, donors, staff, and partners who make this work possible. Whether through hospice care, veteran support, grief services, or community outreach, these stories reflect the compassion and connection that continue to guide Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care throughout the Pikes Peak region.

Thank you to the local media outlets who helped share these meaningful stories with our community.
