Staying Independent at Home: Webinar with Dr. Kristin Keefe on Aging in Place Resources

Care Synergy’s Chief Medical Officer will discuss home safety, PACE programs, and supportive care options for older adults

For many older adults, remaining at home as they age is a top priority. However, staying independent at home often requires careful planning, supportive services, and practical safety strategies.

On April 21, Dr. Kristin Keefe, Chief Medical Officer at Care Synergy, will lead a webinar hosted by AgeWise Colorado titled “Staying Independent at Home — Resources to Support You.”

The virtual session will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will provide guidance for older adults, caregivers, and family members interested in learning how to safely age in place.

Practical Strategies for Aging in Place
During the webinar, Dr. Keefe will discuss common challenges older adults face when living at home and share strategies to proactively address potential risks.

Topics will include:
  • Simple home modifications that can improve safety and reduce fall risks
  • Resources available to support older adults who want to remain in their homes
  • An overview of the PACE Program, which helps eligible older adults receive coordinated healthcare while living in the community
  • How palliative care and hospice services can help support quality of life for individuals with serious illness
Even small changes—such as improving lighting, installing grab bars, or using supportive community services—can make a significant difference in helping older adults maintain independence.

Planning for Independence
With the number of Americans over age 65 continuing to grow, aging in place is becoming an increasingly important topic for families and communities alike. Understanding available resources and services can help individuals make informed decisions about their care and living arrangements.

Dr. Keefe’s webinar will provide practical information and guidance for anyone interested in staying safe, independent, and supported at home.

Events like this help connect older adults and caregivers with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the challenges of aging while maintaining independence and quality of life.
