Cherry Blossom Tree at The Denver Hospice Honors the Legacy of Connie Segura
A memorial tree in the courtyard of The Denver Hospice continues to bloom as a symbol of remembrance, compassion, and the lasting connections hospice care creates with families.
In the west courtyard of the Inpatient Care Unit at The Denver Hospice, a young cherry blossom tree is now in full bloom—offering a beautiful and living tribute to Connie Segura.
The tree was planted last April in Connie’s memory, honoring both her life and the compassionate care she received while at The Denver Hospice. Recently, Connie’s son Michael returned to the courtyard to visit the tree and capture photographs while its blossoms were at their peak. During his visit, Michael was joined by Ben Marcantonio, President of The Denver Hospice, and Tricia Ford, Chief Operating Officer of Care Synergy. Together, they reflected on the significance of the memorial tree and the enduring connection families often maintain with hospice communities long after a loved one’s passing.
Memorials like Connie’s cherry blossom tree serve as powerful reminders that hospice care is not only about providing comfort at the end of life—it is also about honoring lives, supporting families, and creating spaces for remembrance and healing. Each spring, as the tree blossoms again, it stands as a symbol of love, resilience, and the meaningful relationships formed through hospice care.
For families and staff alike, Connie’s tree has become more than a memorial. It is a place of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance—a living tribute that continues to grow, season after season.
