Caregiving in Community: A Film and Conversation on Support, Strain & Strength

Caregiving is something that touches nearly every family. Whether supporting an aging parent, a spouse facing serious illness, or a loved one nearing the end of life, caregivers play an essential role in our communities. Their work is filled with compassion, resilience, and dedication—but it can also bring emotional, physical, and practical challenges.

To explore these realities together, Rocky Mountain PBS and Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care invite community members to a special event that highlights the experiences of caregivers and the importance of support.

On Saturday, April 11, community members are invited to gather at the Colorado Springs Senior Center for “Caregiving in Community: A Film and Conversation on Support, Strain & Strength.”

A Powerful Documentary Preview
The event will feature a special preview of the documentary Caregiving, presented by Rocky Mountain PBS through its Allies for Aging initiative. The film explores the realities of caregiving in America—highlighting the compassion, complexity, and challenges that caregivers experience every day.
Through powerful storytelling, the documentary brings attention to the often unseen work of caregiving while honoring the individuals who provide this vital support to family members and loved ones.

A Community Conversation
Following the film preview, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a community conversation about caregiving. The discussion will focus on the themes of support, strain, and strength, exploring both the challenges caregivers face and the resources available to help.

As a co-host of the event, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care brings deep experience supporting patients and families through serious illness, grief, and end-of-life care. The organization’s involvement underscores the importance of community connection, education, and compassionate care for those navigating the caregiving journey.

Why This Conversation Matters
Across the country, millions of people provide care for family members and friends. While caregiving can be deeply meaningful, it can also feel isolating or overwhelming at times. Events like this create space for community members to connect, share experiences, and learn more about available support.
By bringing caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members together, the event aims to foster understanding, strengthen networks of support, and recognize the invaluable role caregivers play.
